BU40NbrownSys wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 4:03 amI currently have two LG UH12NS40 drives and they seem to work great for most UHD discs but I've found that they just cant seem to handle 3 layer discs. That said I'm looking to buy another drive that can hopefully handle 3 layers. Can anyone recommend a drive that they can confirm has worked with 3 layer discs?
Thanks

Hey, so i'm new here after reading most of the thread the main point i got :
Desktop drive have more failure rate compared to 2.5 slim and to fix sleeping bug on desktop drive you need to flash to WH16NS60 Firmware...
ok so far so good but does 2.5 slim drive like BU40N or BP60NB10 have a sleeping bug ?

thanks, i ordered BP60NB10 it will take couple of days to arrive...
so i guess it will come with encrypted ver "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP60NB10-1.02-N000800-212005070935.bin"...
so i have to to check the box encrypted using modified ASUS Flasher...
ok, my question do i need to downgrade afer that to old ver to work with makemkv or 1.02 will work fine ?

If fw is encrypted, flash using SDFtool Flasher with "enc?" checked. Then flash again to BP60NB10 1.01 from the MK firmware pack (without "enc?" cheked). This fw seems to work best on this drive.john769 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 10:46 amthanks, i ordered BP60NB10 it will take couple of days to arrive...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021
I flashed my WH16NS40 (SVC NS50) drive to 1.02 a long time ago and everything has been working.
It reports
As I read this thread, I see the OP and a lot of a lot of talk recommending flashing the WH16NS40 drive with the WH16NS60 firmware which makes the drive perform as if it was a 16NS60 drive, which might be faster read performance? Am I reading that right?
How much faster is the read performance between a 16NS40 and a 16NS60? Is it worth flashing now or should I leave it alone because everything is working?
If I flash the WH16NS60 firmware on my WH16NS40 drive, will it impact the ability to write a disc if I need to?

If your drive is working fine, I'd leave it alone.
