When you say "ripping the whole disc" are you making a backup or are you making a MKV file for every title on the disc?
MakeMKV shows you the segment map for a selected title. The segment map corresponds to the .m2ts files on a blu-ray.

Re: Data burning software?
How are you determining that the disc burned 2 years ago is still good? Is it that the disc can still be read and reports no errors while doing so? Or is it something else? I try to protect against bit rot for my digital pictures. I do this by keeping a hash of each picture in a text file. Periodica...

The log looks like you're making backups of blu-rays, which is fine. How are you playing these?

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
23.976 frame rate is a bit of a historical artifact from NTSC standards in the analog era. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frame_rate#Modern_video_standards There's a phenomenon called 'dot crawl' that was reduced by lowering color TV frame rates by 0.1%, making traditional interlaced 60-field-per-sec...

I use MakeMKV 1.15.4 on macOS Mojave (10.14.6) and I do not have that behavior. What version of macOS are you using?

Re: Informations and questions
The discussion about transcoding rips into smaller files is long and full of nuance. MakeMKV is the first step in that chain, as it lets you take the bits on a DVD, Blu-ray, or UHD and put them, unchanged, into a MKV container. As a rough estimation, figure a DVD is 5GB, a Blu-ray is about 30GB, and...

Re: Bluray Ripping Issue
That MediaInfo data is roughly what I'd expect for a blu-ray rip. Assuming the MakeMKV log during the rip didn't show errors, I expect it is a correct and well formed file. The log you posted for Big Hero 6 looked fine to me. That your media storage is direct connected is good. Sometimes people stor...

Re: Data burning software?
How much data are you talking about? There are pros and cons to almost any archival strategy and medium. Personally, I use Backblaze. It is $110 for 2 years and unlimited storage. They'll back up external drives attached to your computer. If you had an 'archive drive' sitting quietly on your desk, y...

Re: Bluray Ripping Issue
I prefer MPV over VLC, but generally it should work fine in either. MPV is worth trying, however. Which version of MakeMKV are you using? 1.15.4 is the latest version. There's an open source program called MediaInfo ( https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo ) that'll tell you a lot of details about media...

Out of curiosity… why continue to run a Windows XP machine only for ripping?
