There is nothing in the linked thread about "Edge." What is that "method?"
Edge is the name of Microsoft's web browser. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

Re: Attempting to flash in macOS

You might try fully qualifying the path to sdf.bin on your system.

Re: Problem with UHD rips from BE16NU50 - Visual Blocking & Stuttering

I have a Big Sur 11.1 machine, but it is an Apple Silicon MBA. I connected my external ASUS drive via an Apple USB-A to USB-C dongle. MakeMKV 1.15.4 runs in Rosetta 2 and seems to work just fine. I made a decrypted backup of The Rise of Skywalker . From the backup, I made a .mkv file of the movie wi...

Re: Chernobyl 4K UHD

Lots of 4k content is either HDR or Dolby Vision. The recent versions of Plex can do HDR to SDR tone mapping while transcoding. I think this only works on HDR, not on Dolby Vision. https://support.plex.tv/articles/hdr-to-sdr-tone-mapping/ On MacOS, this only works via software on the CPU. I'm doubtf...

That's interesting. I use macOS Mojave 10.14.6. Which version do you use?

I'm sure you want the fancy audio on the disc. I just made that suggestion because TrueHD/Atmos audio has been a topic of discussion on this forum and a thing MakeMKV has been evolving & working on in recent releases.

Re: Top Gun dump sent

Did you try gently cleaning your disc Tw3ak? Even brand new discs can sometimes have an almost invisible film on them.

I like to use those tools to do 10-bit HEVC encodes. It defaults to hardware assisted encoding by default and the tools make almost all the settings choices for you. It uses ffmpeg directly instead of using Handbrake (which is a good choice too).

Re: Problem with UHD rips from BE16NU50 - Visual Blocking & Stuttering

I watched, twice, the first 4 minutes of The Rise of Skywalker on my TV in HDR10 via Plex on an Apple TV 4K. My TV is a 65 inch LG C9 OLED. I did not see any stuttering or frame drops or macro blocking. I didn't see any flaws. MediaInfo tells me I ripped this with MakeMKV 1.15.2 back in August, 2020...

Re: Star Wars and MCU questions

Do you have CPU cycles to burn and/or a recent Nvidia GPU in a Windows 10 machine? You could turn blu-ray MKV rips into 10-bit HEVC encodes. They can be pretty high quality and relatively small in size. A recent blu-ray I ripped is about a 37GB .mkv file. I encoded it using Intel QuickSync hardware ...

Re: Problem with UHD rips from BE16NU50 - Visual Blocking & Stuttering

I have the prequels & The Rise of Skywalker on UHD. Do you have issues with any of these 4 discs or only with A New Hope ? I'll happily look closely on my rips if I can. I have watched all four of my rips and not noticed any macroblocking or audio dropouts (although, for audio, I transcode the lossl...

I'm not really sure what you're asking. You said you're using Kodi on a Nvidia Shield. Do you not like that interface?

./makemkvcon f -d '/IOBDServices/29928A8B -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash main -i /tmp/BOB.bin If that's really your command, you seem to be missing a trailing ' try: ./makemkvcon f -d '/IOBDServices/29928A8B' -f /tmp/sdf.bin rawflash main -i /tmp/BOB.bin I have no idea if this works on Big Sur. Have you tried a different SATA cable? How about a different SATA port on your motherboard? Also, do you have an external USB enclosure handy you could try your drive in?

However maybe I need to be looking at the "segment map" for that title ID? Yes, this is correct. Okay. I did a backup (no decryption) and the backup completed without any errors or crash. … Given the "no decryption" backup ran without a problem, and that all three drives had the same issue on the s...
