Fixing Volume Key is Unknown
You are sitting watching your UHD-capable drive spin the latest UHD title, anxiously awaiting the rip to complete, and you see this: Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\xxxxxxxxx/.MakeMKV/New_UHD_Title_ABCD.tgz The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted Failed to open disc Step ...

Re: Submitted multiple UHD dumps, keys are unresolved
The other likely candidate is "region blocking" by your firewall. That IP is hosted in Russia, so that may be an issue with how your system is configured.
This site is also hosted in Russia, but everyone accesses it through a Cloudflare IP that isn't.

Re: Submitted multiple UHD dumps, keys are unresolved
Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed. You're not getting the keys after the submission. Make sure you haven't disabled internet access (Preferences->General) Make sure your DNS resolution is set to use at least one that doesn't block resolution of certain domains (Google's 8.8.4.4. and 8....

Re: Submitted multiple UHD dumps, keys are unresolved
Are you seeing any errors about not being able to retrieve the hash key file? Those titles have been ripped by others.

Re: UHD Disc exploded
More the general resistance to flexing that makes them "strong". Next time you feel the urge to break a disk, though, take a pair of needle-nose pliers and take a VERY small chunk out of the hub area. It will probably break a lot easier. My copy of Last Starfighter has a rather large chunk missing f...

You need to do a chmod +x on it, to make it executable.
Previous versions included the eXecute bit being set already.

At this point, follow the procedure outlined in this link: https://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/8
Drop the logs and other files described into an email to support@makemkv.com for Mike to look at. He will probably email you with a request or two for additional information.

Re: UHD Disc exploded
"Exploding" disks do not necessarily take out the drive, just as a plate shattering on a floor doesn't necessarily damage the floor itself. Both certainly need to be CLEANED. A disk can shatter due to unseen cracks in its structure. Technically, the design calls for them to withstand 300 rpm, which ...

File name depends on your minimum title length - titles smaller than that aren't counted.

Re: One Night At McCool's
Have you activated debug logging? Some errors only seem to be recorded when debug logging is on. I would start by making an ISO backup of the disk, to make sure it doesn't have a mastering flaw that prevents reading. You didn't say what operating system you're using, but the program dd, found on Lin...

Without the x permission, it won't be allowed to run, so that would account for "cannot find" errors.

Re: Unable to rip a blu-ray due to ccextrator error on Big Sur
It's actually more of a problem on DVDs than BDs. A lot of DVDs claim to have Closed Captioning, but do not, which will also cause ccextractor to take a LONG time to figure out, which has all the visual cues of a crashed program. Gone with the Wind 70th Anniversary DVD is where I first encountered it.

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
The topic you replied to is old, and has nothing to do with codecs.
So, if you're having a problem with Ubuntu 20.x, you should begin a new topic and explain what your codec problem is.

You have to unselect the closed captions from the title, using the left-hand menu.
Changing names with Expert mode enabled shows how to access the selections.
