MakeMKV Feature Request/Suggestion Thread

Why not have a place just for this purpose! While MakeMKV is open/opened and running, allow decryption of DVDs, HD DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K/UHD Blu-rays when copying from disc via Windows Explorer, as well as when playing discs with CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra and VLC Media Player. Add DVD support to Mak...

Setting the Maximum Read Speed in MakeMKV Version 1.15.3

So if MakeMKV version 1.15.3 handles read speeds more actively, does this mean editing the registry setting by using the 0=99 string for drives like the LG WH16NS60 would have no affect/impact starting from 1.15.3? By the way, I flashed my WH16NS40 NS50 from the factory installed ROM version 1.03 to...

No rush. I just thought that now would be a good opportunity for you guys to work on the Pioneers as long as ASUS and LG don't appear to be releasing any new hardware or firmware and the latest firmwares for those have been adapted to MK versions. But if I'm wrong about that assumption, I'd be glad...

If the LG WH16NS60 has been discontinued (and considering how hard it is to find a new one from an authorized LG reseller, I think this is a sad possibility), this Pioneer has the same 16X BDR read spead, making it equal in POTENTIALLY the fastest read speed available. The thing that makes this dri...

If I purchase another drive, I'd like to get a new one covered under the manufacturer's warranty. The LG BE16NU50, LG BU40N, and LG WH16NS60 are hard to find via LG's authorized resellers, such as Amazon, B&H, Microcenter, and Newegg. I can't believe the BE16NU50, BU40N, and WH16NS60 might be discon...

I miss my LG BE16NU50

😢! I didn't have to even think about any of this flashing or crossflashing with that one. It handled everything I threw at it for three years until it died in February. It would appear as if/though LG may/might have discontinued it--😠! I can't find a brand new one anywhere (B&H, Microcenter, New Egg, etc.), or I would have just gotten another one. I actually tried crossflashing my LG WH16NS40 to it, but the modified ASUS flasher gave me an error and refused to flash it. ASUS makes a BW-16D1X-U USB drive. If anyone has either an LG BE16NU50 or an ASUS BW-16D1X-U, if those two can be crossflashed, then I just might get the USB ASUS. If they can't be crossflashed, then I guess the best I can do is when I encounter a disk that's giving me problems, keep crossflashing to a different firmware until I find one that works with that particular disk.

Re: Flashing My Drive to a Firmware for Makes and Models Other Than Factory Loaded

Uh oh. I think I'm finding this somewhat disk specific. For example, "Terminator Jenesis" works better when crossflashing to the LG WH16NS60. "The Last Jedi" works better when crossflashing to the ASUS BW-16D1HT. What can I say. It is what it is. I'm just posting my observations in case anyone eithe...

Re: Flashing My Drive to a Firmware for Makes and Models Other Than Factory Loaded

They don’t call the ASUS the “Cadilla of UHD friendly drives” for nothing ya know! If I notice a significant improvement from crossflashing my LG WH16NS40 to an ASUS BW-16D1HT, I wonder if a physical, real ASUS BW-16D1HT would be even better. Unless it's necessary, I'm just going to see how my late...

Re: Flashing My Drive to a Firmware for Makes and Models Other Than Factory Loaded

Just keeping everyone posted in case their experience is either the same or different than mine. I'm not sure if some 4K/UHD Blu-ray titles are more stable with some firmwares and drives than others. But as of this post, I notice that crossflashing an LG WH16NS40 to an ASUS MK BW-16D1HT 3.10 yields ...

Re: Flashing My Drive to a Firmware for Makes and Models Other Than Factory Loaded

I thought I'd share my progress. When I was using ANYDVDHD, I noticed that when flashing my LG WH16NS40 to the WH16NS60, it behaved more like it was loading properly, except for the processing error since ANYDVDHD doesn't work with official UHD drives. Since the drive appeared to be loading better,...

The Decrypt Option in Backup

I just started fooling with MakeMKV. After clicking Backup in the file menu, I notice you can turn decryption on and off. Does this mean you can choose whether to keep the original encryption in tact when you copy the disk to the harddrive?

Re: PSA: Important details to be aware of when shopping for your first drive. New pepole read this!

The WH16NS40 I purchased back in February has a manufacturer date of October, 2018, and it came with firmware version 1.03. I didn't try ripping UHD Blu-rays with it because I assumed it wouldn't have worked as shipped from the manufacturer. So I flashed it to the DE edition of 1.02 using one of th...

Re: PSA: Important details to be aware of when shopping for your first drive. New pepole read this!

I second what (Jonghotti) is saying. Just taking two new Hitachi LG models which are the BH16NS40/WH16NS40 2020 and the Hitachi LG BH16NS55 2020. These firmware have been assembled differently and the calibration data is not at the usual addresses. If you flash this firmware 1.04mk with 1.02DE you ...
