Re: Automatic HK download disabled or failed
You should have no network issues with latest MakeMKV version and with latest sdf.bin - just download sdf.bin (not sdf.dat.gz) and put into MakeMKV data directory. Even the old versions should just work, as the infamous "Japanese lock" is now removed.

Re: Who does the translations?
Who translates this program to other languages? I can't seem to find anywhere to sign up to help with translations, and there is a particular word in the Danish translation that really bothers me (in the preferences, "Video" is translated to "vedeo" - not only is it all lowercase, it is not even a ...

Re: Quality of internal AC3 encoding
It is likely impossible to do that compression in an unnoticeable way. I'm not aware of any quality problems with audio encoding in FFmpeg. Yes, exactly. It's just a really lossy format. But, AC-3 is widely supported and highly portable. MakeMKV can also do AAC encoding - all profiles, using fdk_aa...

Re: Quality of internal AC3 encoding
Yes, maybe it uses ffmpeg's libraries for AC3 encoding as well. I'm just curious if the AC3 encoding quality could be improved by some additional flag or switch (at the cost of some encoding time). It does use ffmpeg. You can specify any ffmpeg encoder options in conversion profile (look for a flac...

As for the hardware, here is the recipe (assuming you've flashed a LibreDrive firmware) That's just it, is it possible to flash my drive (HL-DT-ST BD-RE WP50NB40) and what does flashing the drive do exactly? Yes, your drive can be flashed. You have to read this - https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewt...

Re: Mac user. I wish to have my "BD-RE WP50NB40" region free. Can anyone help?
Thanks for your help. Can I ask you a question: why does MakeMKV.app say "DVD all regions: Possible (with patched firmware)" for my drive? Can't I do this? You have to understand the concept of RPC-II, and how region coding is enforced. In short, it is enforced by both hardware (your drive) and sof...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Then you have somehow tell MakeMKV to keep re-encoded base, but extract DV EL+RPU from another track. This is easy to do technically, the question is about UI. The easiest way probably would be the track ordering as well: if the second track contains Base+EL+RPU, then discard base, extract EL+RPU a...

Re: Only 7.1 and 5.1 audio (No stereo)
You can do this with MakeMKV - it has audio down-mix feature. Enable expert mode, and select AAC-stereo profile . For each audio track you will have an option to save the original AND/OR stereo copy. And you can do this for already existing MKV file, just open the MKV file in MakeMKV.
